Rachael's half term holiday nearing its end, we went away for the soon-to-be-traditional last weekend of the season in Filey. When we arrived it was raining. Nevertheless we trotted down to the sea, after finding ourselves a room in a B&B.
(More pics from the weekend: day two, Bridlington, day three.
After we'd got suitably wet, we went up to the camp site to find Rachael's parents. We found them, had a cup of tea, and the weather got good enough to go for a proper walk on the seafront.
A little bit of blue sky, honest.
There weren't that many intrepid enough to venture on to the beach.
As the late afternoon sun broke through the clouds, it illuminated the cliffs on Filey brigg.
For some reason, mines are erected as monuments in most British seaside towns.
This outsized lobster nearly ate Rachael.
Rachael and her parents.
A rainbow emerged as the sun came out. The end of the rainbow marks where Rachael's parents were staying. In the second photo you can see the stalls where a certain unnamed person likes to buy doughnuts.
As seafronts go, this amusement arcade is pretty understated.
"Edd, take a picture of this tractor show I can show the kids that things rust faster at the seaside."
Filey's only Roman remains, it would seem.
Sadly no live music was to be found.
After Filey, we rode up to Scarborough to take a walk along the seafront there. As the sun set, there were some nice views to be had.

"Take one of me so people will know we're both here."
